Crown Fitness Club was built in 1979 as part of the Crown Community site.
The club was originally built as a Squash Club, serving a large geographical area. Squash at its peak at the club attracted around 300 members but during the 90s a decline in squash members saw the membership drop below 30.
The fitness area at the club consisted of some old and in need of replacement, cardio and weights. This was replaced with state of the art fitness equipment and an express resistance circuit.
Since its refurbishment the club has changed dramatically. It has evolved and developed into a great place for members of the local community to exercise in friendly surroundings supervised by knowledgeable and experienced staff.
The club has enjoyed further development and now consists of four specific areas - a cardio area complete with running machines, cross trainers, rowers, bikes and steppers; a weights area consisting of resistance machines, olympic weights and pull up bars; a studio to run a variety of classes; and a specific ladies only area.
